Who Is Eligible

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is purpose-built for individuals with significant functional impairments or high support needs, following the NDIS SDA Standards. These homes are designed to enhance independence while ensuring safety, accessibility, and comfort.

Who is eligible for

Specialist Disability Accommodation

The NDIS looks at 3 things when assessing eligibility for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA):

  1. Significant Functional Impairment & High Support Needs:
This applies to people who have major challenges doing everyday tasks on their own. This includes personal care, mobility issues or needing a lot of help with household tasks like cooking and cleaning.

  2. Is SDA the Right Housing for You?: The NDIS will look at whether SDA will help you achieve your goals, increase independence, improve social participation and provide lasting benefits. They will explore all housing options to make sure you get the right level of support.

  3. NDIS Legislation Requirements: All SDA funding is ‘Reasonable and Necessary’. Meaning safe, effective, goal focused and funded under the NDIS.
